Setup Smile Fee Schedule

Smile is a dental plan that offers Smile members’ savings off their treatment when visiting a participating practice. It is a subscription service for both practice and patients that guarantees a minimum saving of 15% every time the patient visits the dentist. 

Smile uses a set fee level for specific treatment items to ensure the patient is given reduced fees. Smile has three main rules when it comes to practices setting up the fee schedule. 

1. Charge fees in accordance with the Smile Fee Schedule UNLESS items 2 or 3 (below) apply.

2. If the usual practice fee is LESS than the Benchmark Fee simple charge 15% off the usual practice fee.

3. If the dental item number is NOT listed in the Smile Fee Schedule simply charge 15% off the usual practice fee. 

Create Smile Fee Level

1. Go to Location Management > Fees tab

2. Click New Level

3. Enter new level name: e.g. Smile Fee

4. Select Standard under Copy all fees from droplist

5. Select Standard Fee Level period if applicable

6. Click OK
   

7. Click Update the fees

8. Select Decrease fees

9. Enter 15%

10. Tick Update all fees

11. Click OK
    

Enter New Smiles Fees

Using the Smile Fee Schedule, enter the Smile Fee against each applicable treatment item.

Please have in mind that fees will vary depending on what state the practice is located in.

1. Any fees in the new Smile Fee Level that are above the Smile Fee Schedule need to be reduced to that exact amount.

   Example:

   Item 011 Comprehensive Oral Examination is included on the Smile Fee Schedule for $58.00 (NSW)Standard Fee Level = $70.00 therefore the 15% reduction equals = $59.50. This is above the Smile Fee Schedule $58.00, therefore fee for 011 needs to be reduced to $58.00

2. Any fees in the new Smile Fee Level that are below the Smile Fee Schedule should NOT be changed.

   Example:

   Item 011 Comprehensive Oral Examination is $60.00 therefore the 15% reduction equals to $51.00

   This is below the Smile Fee Schedule $58.00 (NSW) so no change required

3. All other fees not included on the Smile Fee Schedule have now also been correctly reduced

   Example:

   Item 018 Written Report is not included on the Smile Fee Schedule.

   Standard Fee Level = $20.00 therefore in Smile Fee Level the fee should = $16 (15% reduction)
